The world is constantly changing. And for us, to educate is to equip each student to live and act in this transformation – with knowledge, critical thinking, creativity, and freedom.
That is why, at Maple Bear Alto de Pinheiros, autonomy is more than an idea: it is a daily practice that is always being developed and improved.
Our first point of interest is how the child learns. Valuing individual characteristics opens the door to developing each student’s full potential: a process that, day by day, invites discovery, reflection, conviviality, and the construction of knowledge.
Bilingual Early Childhood Education
Learning how to learn: the best start
The global development of the child is the focus of the Maple Bear Canadian School Alto de Pinheiros Early Childhood Education Program. This is the time to build the foundations of your lifelong learning process: learning how to learn, in an inspiring and safe environment where each student recognizes himself in his own characteristics, abilities and competencies from a very early age.
Welcoming and interest are key concepts, applied in activities planned for active learning: knowledge is built gradually and naturally from well-structured objectives.
Everything is designed so that, at each grade, the student feels motivated and is truly the protagonist of the development of all his linguistic, intellectual, and emotional potential.

“From the very beginning Maple Bear Alto de Pinheiros proved to be the most suitable school for what we were looking for. The learning proposal aroused our interest, together with the fact that it is a school with an adequate number of students.
In 2016, we spent a few days in the United States and there we were able to observe the practical effect of the education offered. Our daughter filled us with pride, revealing an amazing ability to communicate in English. We are referring to a child who was 3 years old at the time and who within the limitations of his vocabulary, showed himself capable of understanding, responding and above all, establishing complete dialogues in English.”

“For us it is a satisfaction to have our daughter, Maria Fernanda,
studying at Maple Bear. She has been a Maple Bear student since Nursery and has studied at Maple Bear Alto de Pinheiros since Y1. It is gratifying to see how well she is able to get around in environments where both English and Portuguese are used, always comfortably and naturally. The Canadian methodology is fantastic, encouraging critical thinking, reading, discovery, creativity, and teamwork. We only have to thank and congratulate the Maple Bear Alto de Pinheiros Team.”

“Maple Bear Alto de Pinheiros was the right choice for our children’s education. Innovative, welcoming, engaged and professional excellence!”
Family of Miguel (Jr Kindergarten) and Laura, today in Year 2

We chose Maple Bear not only for the quality of teaching. Also, because of the concern with the child’s social formation, in a school aligned with our family values, in a collaborative environment, and committed to preparing a conscious and active citizen for the world. In these years of coexistence, and during the pandemic we have had the opportunity to confirm the solid base of this institution, when the school needed to reinvent itself and managed not only to maintain the effectiveness and quality of teaching, now at a distance, but also to support its students to face the new reality, without losing the brightness and joy of childhood.

Methodology
Learning is fascinating – and fun too.
Maple Bear combines the best of globally recognized Canadian bilingual education with all the requirements of the Ministry of Education.
The pedagogical proposal stimulates, at all times, the imagination and the capacity to solve problems, in playful, practical, and integrated contents. An education project that stimulates and challenges each student in intellectual, physical, emotional, and social aspects and encourages free expression and self-confidence – and that makes school a rewarding experience for the child.
Bilingual from the start
At Maple Bear Alto de Pinheiros, English is a fundamental part of the routine in all stages of Kindergarten and Elementary School. Bilingualism is more than mastering a second language: it is learning to think in two languages. Therefore, in Maple Bear methodology, the child transits comfortably and naturally in contexts where both English and Portuguese are used.
